RecoveryWorks and City of Lakewood Navigation Center Grand Opening |
RecoveryWorks, and the City of Lakewood, are proud to announce the opening of our navigation center at 8000 West Colfax Avenue. A navigation center is an important tool for communities to support the unhoused by providing a centralized and coordinated low barrier public access to a continuum of wraparound and co-located services for all of our unhoused neighbors.
RecoveryWorks and the City of Lakewood leveraged revenue from the state of Colorado to relocate and expand RecoveryWorks’ existing drop in and medical respite center. Through an exciting partnership, the City of Lakewood was awarded approximately nine million dollars and 40 permanent state housing vouchers to partner with RecoveryWorks to implement this expanded navigation center. The comprehensive programming fulfills the strategic priorities outlined in the JeffCo Heading Home Plan to End Homelessness and will be a key resource in the transforming homelessness and rehousing response system for the region. RecoveryWorks thanks the City of Lakewood and the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) for their support and partnership on this exciting project. Finally, we thank Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (pictured) for providing health care at our navigation center.

RecoveryWorks Celebrates National Native American Heritage Month |
Native American Heritage Month celebrates the traditions, languages, culture, and stories of Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and affiliated Island communities. Native Americans experience the second-highest rate of homelessness in the United States. According to the MDHI 2023 State of Homelessness report, Native Americans are overrepresented more than four-fold in the population of people experiencing homelessness here in the Denver Metro area.
This year, RecoveryWorks marked this important month by serving traditional Native American food on Monday, November 13 to our guests and staff. Over seventy individuals enjoyed Native American fry bread with toppings, beef stew, and pudding. Staff described the traditions and meaning around the food for guests, shared stories, and ate in community. We thank Carla Respects Nothing and Shantell Anderson with RecoveryWorks, and Cynthia Cynthia Midivo with Hattie Pearl’s Kitchen, for preparing a wonderful experience for RecoveryWorks guests and staff!
