RecoveryWorks is saddened to share news of the passing on May 30 of John R. Moran, Jr., the second president & chief executive officer of The Colorado Trust.
John was the longest-tenured president & chief executive officer at The Colorado Trust, serving in this role from 1991 to 2006.
John leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service to the people of Colorado and was widely respected and recognized as a philanthropic leader both in our state and across the country. He served with distinction at The Colorado Trust and as a U.S. Navy officer, Colorado state representative, Regis University board chair, and health care attorney.
John is remembered with universal warmth and fondness by his former colleagues. He made it a habit of stopping by every employee’s office on a weekly basis to see how they were doing. He was proud of his Irish heritage and would bring green carnations to Colorado Trust staff members every St. Patrick’s Day. Learn more about John’s life.
In lieu of flowers, John asked for donations to RecoveryWorks, a Jefferson County nonprofit that provides resources and support to people experiencing homelessness. RecoveryWorks is honored to be recognized by such a leader in the nonprofit community. We thank those in advance for contributions to our organization in his memory.
